The first in ALMA's new series, “In Conversation”, begins with Carcanet poet and singer/songwriter Arto Vaun reading from his latest book. Essayist and translator Taline Voskeritchian will introduce Vaun and moderate the conversation on themes of memory and identity.

Born in Cambridge, MA, Arto Vaun is finishing his PhD in English Literature at Glasgow University. He was the co-founder of Aspora Literary Journal in Los Angeles, a co-editor of The Armenian Weekly, and is the current poetry editor of Glimpse Journal (based in Boston and Oxford, England). His first collection, Capillarity, was published by Carcanet Press in 2009. His next book of poems, Isinglass, is also forthcoming from Carcanet Press. He has taught literature and writing at UMass Boston and Glasgow University. He has recorded three CDs and performed throughout the northeast and the UK with artists such as Rufus Wainwright and Ben Kweller. His new record, The Cynthia Sessions, is being released in February 2013.
Taline Voskeritchian teaches writing and literature at Boston University. Her work has appeared locally, nationally and internationally in American Literary Review, Ahégan (Beirut), London Review of Books, The Nation, Agni Review, Book Forum, Words Without Borders, The Daily Star/International Herald Tribune (Beirut), Journal of Palestine Studies, MERIP/Milddle East Report, Alik (Tehran), Warwick Review (UK), the radio program “On Being,” and the on-line journals Jadaliyya and HowlRound.
